Nice Dashes
Nice Dashes is a WordPress plugin I put together to replace double-hyphens (––) with the correct character code for an em-dash (—). It will also convert single-hyphens to a character code.
Note: It turns out, according to an email I received from Ia, WordPress actually already does this, but not quite in the same capacity. Triple-hyphens are converted to em-dashes (—), and double-dashes are converted to en-dashes (–). Still, I like to type the way my plugin handles the hyphens, but I figured I’d let you know that for your uses, Nice Dashes might be redundant!
Compatibility
Well, it works with the newest version of WP, 2.1, but I haven’t been able to test it with the older versions. If you find any compatibility problems, let me know!
What’s changed in version 0.2
- No longer switches double-dashes in comment tags, so your comments don’t get mangled.
- Smileys should work now.
- The code broke single dashes in urls, so I made it so that it only changes single dashes with a space before and after.
